4 Great Reasons to Blog for Business

Last week I blogged about blogging for your business, and how to get started. After I published, I realized maybe some people don't know why they should even be blogging, let alone get started.

So this week I'll give you four reasons why you should be blogging for your business.

Creates Content

This is my favourite reason to write a blog.

Writing a blog gives you content to add to your social media and your newsletter. And we all know content is king (or so Pinterest tells me), but sometimes it's hard to keep it fresh. You can only repost from other social sources so much. You need some original content, too. Writing your blog gives you fresh original content that you can use in a timely fashion for marketing purposes.

Remember to have a great image to put in your blog and to use it in your social media posts. Users are much more likely to stop at a great image than text only.

Drives Traffic

What happens when you post that fresh new content? Hopefully, users will click the link which will drive traffic to your website! Once users are on your blog, chances are they will poke around the rest of your website to learn more about your business.

A great way to make them do just that is to have links back to relevant pages on your site. So if I was blogging about web design, I might add a link for more information about my web design services. Also, make sure that you have clear and easy page navigation on your blog page so they can find their way around with ease.

Improves SEO

Search engines are looking for sites that are updated regularly. It shows them that they are live and viable websites. Posting blog content is a great way to create activity on your site. This helps you move up in the search results.

When you blog about your business, you will naturally add keywords to your text. Having keywords that customers might be searching for helps your search rank as well. You can bulk up the keyword quotient by using them in your titles, tags, and categories.

You're an Expert

Blogging about your business is going to set you up to be an expert in your industry and as a business leader. You know your business better than anyone, show people that you do. Even if you are just starting out in business, you have information to share which shows people that if you aren't an expert now, you are working on learning and improving every day.

Authenticity and knowledge are key in building trusting relationships with your current and potential clients. People want products and services they can trust. Show them you know how to fulfill their needs and you have a better chance of turning into a customer or even a brand champion!

There are other reasons besides the above, but I think there's enough here to prove that spending some time on a blog is worth it in the end.

If you get a blog started or have one going already, send me a link, I'd love to check it out!
