Make Social Content with Adobe Spark!

So I have started with a new batch of Social Media Marketing learners, and that has me in the mood to write about useful (or not) and free (or not) apps that they can use to create content for their social media. Today we'll take a quick look at Adobe Spark.

Adobe Spark is a freemium (free to start, paid if you want more features) app that you can use to create content for social media and your website. You need to sign up with Adobe, but you don't need to enter a credit card and there is no trial period, as far as I can tell.

The free version is limited to the fonts, colours and themes that they offer you. The themes cover a wide range of styles, so you should be able to find one that fits your needs. You can upload your own photos and video, but they also offer free images from PixaBay and Flicker. If you want to pay the monthly subscription, then you'll have more flexibility. You can use your branded colours and logo and upload your own fonts. It also removes the Adobe branding. The subscription cost is comparable to other content creators like Ripl and Animoto.

You can create 3 kinds of content, Graphics, Videos and "Web Stories", which is a simple one page website. Pretty cool, actually. You can create on your desktop or download the mobile app.

The first item I made was the video above. Using free stock images and a built in template, which includes a selection of music, I put this together in minutes. With more planning and your own images, even with the free version, you could create effective video clips for your business. You can use video as well and that brings a whole 'nother level of creativity.

This is a one pager that I put together just as a sample. It took me just a couple of minutes. Just as with the video, some planning and original content could make this really a really creative way to display and event, your portfolio, or more.

The image creator is very much like Canva, with less choice in looks and fonts, but you could find something that fits what you are looking for.

I like Spark because you can create different kinds of content all in one space. If you are going to be creating a lot of content, it might be smart to pay the subscription fee to customize to your brand. I'm not sure if they let you cheese the system by creating your own branded images to upload. I'll try it out and get back to you on that.

Overall, I like Spark and would recommend it to anyone who wants to easily make content for their social media and website. If you create anything cool with Spark, send me a link. I'd love to see it!
